PRIVACY IN PRISMQDA

How PrismQDA handles research data

PrismQDA works offline and does not upload research data or make network requests of its own. There is no account, sign-in, application analytics, or automatic PrismQDA update check.

Your .pqda project file contains your imported documents, codes, coding assignments, memos, and activity log. You control where projects and backups are stored and who can access them. Keep any linked recordings available when moving your work.

The statistics output notebook is session-only and is not stored in the project file. Copy results you want to keep before closing the project.

You choose what to share

Exports and reports are files you choose to create. If you use the AI Assistant, you can inspect its prompt packet before deciding whether to paste it into a chatbot. Documents and codes marked do not share are excluded from packets.

Anything you paste into another service is handled under that service’s terms and privacy practices. Check your study’s permissions before sharing participant material.

Current limits

Project files are not encrypted yet. Use appropriate account access controls, drive encryption, and storage arrangements for sensitive material, including backups.

Setup and Microsoft components

PrismQDA needs Microsoft’s WebView2 Runtime. It is normally included with Windows 11; if missing, the installer downloads it from Microsoft. WebView2 is a separate Microsoft component and can receive its own updates. PrismQDA’s offline operation does not mean that Windows or WebView2 never connects to Microsoft.
