What you need

  • Windows: Tested on Windows 11. Windows 10 compatibility has not yet been tested.
  • Installation: Designed to install for your user account without administrator rights.
  • WebView2: If Microsoft’s runtime is missing, setup needs an internet connection to download it. PrismQDA works offline after setup.

Try the sample study when downloads open.

When public downloads are available:
  1. Download the installer from this page and run it.
  2. Follow the setup steps. The installer is unsigned, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. See the note below before proceeding.
  3. Open PrismQDA and choose Sample Projects to explore the fictional Urban Mobility Study.
The PrismQDA welcome page. Large buttons read New Project, Open Project, and Sample Projects. Below them, a Recent Projects card lists Urban Mobility Study, and a Get Started card lists five steps: import your data, create a codebook, code your first document, explore and analyze, and build a report.

On the welcome screen, choose Sample Projects to try the fictional study before importing your own material.

About Windows warnings

SmartScreen checks download reputation. This unsigned pre-release may be identified as an unrecognized application. Check the download source and published checksum before deciding whether to proceed.

If Windows offers More info → Run anyway, that option lets you continue. Some managed computers may block installation. A warning alone does not establish that a file is safe or unsafe.

Check your download when it is available

Download the matching .sha256.txt file. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash on the installer or ZIP with -Algorithm SHA256, then compare the result with the published checksum. The values should match exactly.

Use the portable version

Extract the ZIP to a folder or USB drive and run PrismQDA. Settings and the recent-project list stay beside the program. This version is new and has had less testing than the installer.

Keep your work

PrismQDA saves project changes as you work and keeps dated backups. Keep your own copies too. Statistics notebook results are not saved in the project: copy them before closing it.

Updates and removal

PrismQDA does not update itself. Download the newer installer when a release is available. Newer versions open older projects and save a copy before any required file-format update.

To remove an installed copy, use Windows Settings → Apps. Your project files are not removed by the uninstaller.
